Our CARE (Connect, Accept, Respond, Empower) trainings for adults and professionals provide an overview of suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth and the different environmental stressors that contribute to their heightened risk for suicide. The training covers what research states regarding reducing the risk of suicide and promoting resiliency in addition to best practices and practical steps that service providers, educators, and others can take to promote a positive environment for all youth.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide is the third leading cause of death for people ages 15 to 24 accounting for more than 12% of the deaths in that age range every year.
