The Trevor Project operates three core program areas in order to provide life-saving and life-affirming resources for LGBTQ youth and to create safe, accepting and inclusive environments for all young people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

The Trevor Lifeline is the only nationwide, around-the-clock suicide prevention and crisis intervention lifeline for LGBTQ youth. The Trevor Lifeline is a free and confidential service that offers hope and someone to talk to, 24/7. Volunteer Lifeline counselors staff our three call centers, The Randy Stone Call Center East Coast, The Randy Stone Call Center West Coast and The Harvey Milk Call Center. Each year, tens of thousands of calls are fielded from young people across the country. The Trevor Lifeline is accredited as an exemplary crisis intervention program by the American Association for Suicidology (AAS).

ASK TREVOR

"Ask Trevor" is an online, non-time sensitive question and answer resource for young people with questions surrounding sexual orientation and gender identity. Submit a question.

TREVORCHAT

TrevorChat is a free, confidential, secure online messaging service that provides live help through this website.  TrevorChat is only intended to assist those who are not at risk for suicide.  It's available on Friday's between the hours of 1:00 PM Pacific (4:00 PM Eastern) and 9:00 PM Pacific (12:00 AM Eastern).  Connect with a volunteer who can support you with your concerns and questions.  [U.S. Residents only]  Click here on Friday's to see if an IM session is available.

WE BUILD COMMUNITY

TREVORSPACE

TrevorSpace.org is an online, social networking community for LGBTQ youth ages 13 through 24 and their friends and allies. Youth can create personal profiles and connect with other young people throughout the country, as well as find resources within their communities. The software used to create TrevorSpace was donated to The Trevor Project by Tim Gill, an American software entrepreneur and philanthropist. Join at Trevorspace.org.

YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL

The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) serves as a liaison between youth nationwide and The Trevor Project, as it relates to young people and the issues surrounding suicide, sexuality and gender identity. The YAC submits recommendations to The Trevor Project in an effort to increase Trevor visibility and best serve the LGBTQ youth population. See our current members and how to apply.

WE CHANGE SOCIETY AND CULTURE

THE LIFEGUARD WORKSHOP PROGRAM

The Trevor Lifeguard Workshop Program uses a structured, age-appropriate curriculum with trained facilitators to address topics including sexual orientation and gender identity, the impacts of language and behavior on LGBTQ youth and suicide prevention skills in schools.  Learn more here.

PUBLIC POLICY

The Trevor Project actively participates in advocacy initiatives at the local, state and federal levels, aiming to influence public policy to meet the needs of LGBTQ youth, especially in the areas of mental health and suicide prevention. The Trevor Project continues to work toward its goal to mandate suicide prevention programs in every high school nationwide.

RESEARCH

The Trevor Project is committed to ensuring more suicide prevention reseach studies are conducted that focus on critical issues faced by LGBTQ youth.  Additionally, we are conducting our own research using data from our Lifeline and other programs.
