A crush on my principal

Dear Trevor,
I have a crush on my principal there’s quite an age difference between us. When I see him or he talks to me I feel like I’m going to faint! I don’t want to tell my best friend. I try to talk to him everyday. He’s like my person I can go to with all my problems. We have a great student/principal relationship. He tells me I’m one of his best students! I just don’t know how to react or I feel like I’m weird or wrong for liking him. Am I? Thank you!

Hello,

Thank you for your letter. You’ve shown a lot of bravery in writing to us. You are definitely not wrong for liking your principal. Throughout your life, you will have people that you connect with and look up to. Having crushes on people that make an impact on your life, and are consistently there for you is only natural. Understand that he is doing his job as your principal in being there to talk to you about your problems. Teachers and principals take on many roles such as guidance counselor and friend. It’s great that you two have a good student/principal relationship.

I’m not sure why you don’t want to tell your best friend, but I think it would benefit you if you did. She may understand, and even relate to your issue. If there is someone around you that you can trust to talk to about this, it may make the situation easier for you. It may feel awkward at first, but once you push through that, you may feel relieved to get it off your chest.
