A Resource for Youth on National Coming Out Day

October 16, 2013

On October 11th, people nationwide celebrated National Coming Out Day. However, many young people struggle with whether or not it is safe for them to come out as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or another unique identity. To support the youth we serve, The Trevor Project is proud to announce our newest resource, Coming Out As You!

Coming Out As You is a pocket-sized booklet designed to help youth navigate their coming out experience in a safe way that encourages critical thinking. Inside, readers will find informative chapters, question and answer sections, and worksheets to help them weigh the pros and cons of coming out.

The guide is available to youth at TheTrevorProject.org/YOU, where visitors can access the full guide, bonus chapters and printable worksheets. Printed copies of Coming Out As You can be requested by adults and educators through the Trevor Resource Kit.

The Trevor Project extends special thanks to the Human Rights Campaign Foundation for underwriting the cost of this one-of-a-kind publication.
