I am really feeling like I can turn to no one . . . what should I do before [things get worse]?

Dear Ayesha,
Feeling alone with your problems—whatever they may be—is perhaps one of the worst feelings we can have. Assuming you have ruled out a parent or other family member, I would encourage you to consider speaking with a trusted teacher or school counselor. You don’t mention your specific concerns, but, if they relate to sexual orientation and you are reluctant to acknowledge this at first, you might just let the teacher or counselor know you are feeling depressed and alone and would like to speak with someone in confidence.
In the meantime, please call our helpline and talk over your situation and options with one of our listeners. You can take as long as you need to examine your situation, and they may be able to identify other resources for your in your area. Please call.
