Dear Trevor,

My mom makes me cry a lot. She's a very strict Christian and hates how I am. She says I'm just confused, but i know i'm not. Do you think there's any way I could get her accept me?

Signed,
Niki, 15, victoria TX

 Dear Niki,

You do not specifically say what your mom disaproves of but I am assuming it is your sexuality. Growing up with a disapproving parent is difficult, especially when it concerns your sexuality. While she has a right to her strict Christian beliefs, it is not fair that she makes you cry so much. It is very brave and intelligent of you to understand and accept yourself. Perhaps one day she will accept you for that. Probably the most effective thing here is time. Your mother has had this understanding of only one acceptible sexuality for years and it will take her time to adjust. Keep trying, and try to be happy, that's the best way you can show that your sexuality is what is right for you. Here are some websites that might help you. http://www.religioustolerance.org/homosexu.htm can help with the religious part of accepting your sexuality. Pflag http://community.pflag.org/page.aspx?pid=209 also has resources that may help you.

Stay strong Niki!
