I have a question, one of my friends is struggling to become bi or lesbian and gives me long talks about that. Then she feels real depressed all the time, . . . I just want to know what should I do to help her?

Dear Raul,

The most important thing you can do is to continue being the supportive friend it sounds like you have been so far. Do you know if there is a sympathetic teacher who you might confide in about your concerns for your friend? You don’t need to mention the reason behind her depression—just the fact that she is “depressed all the time” is a good enough reason to speak with someone who may be in a position to get her some help.

You should also give your friend the Trevor Helpline number (1-866-4-U-TREVOR). The helpline was created specifically to be there for young people like your friend. It’s free and it’s open 24/7. You are welcome to call yourself, if you’d like some support for yourself in this.
