Hey Trevor, I've been feeling very alone the past few months. I've come to a place where I truly hate being gay and hate myself for liking girls. I feel very angry and alone. Usually the recommened action is to talk to an adult you trust. But right now I don't trust any adult to talk to about these intense emotions. Am I the only one who feels so much anger and loneliness? Is there any way I could ever find someone like myself who feels this way, to get through this together and maybe not be so alone?
Hi T –
You are definitely not alone in your feelings. It can be difficult to deal with feelings towards other people for lots of young adults your age. Sometimes the people around us can make us feel negatively about being gay or lesbian and that can be a very lonely feeling especially if you deal with it on your own. You mention not having an adult you trust to talk to, but do you have a friend that you can talk to?
If there isn’t anyone around you feel comfortable with, there are lots of ways you can discuss your feelings through The Trevor Project. The important thing to know is that you are not alone and you don’t have to deal with these feelings by yourself.
TrevorChat - www.thetrevorproject.org/chat - is an online chat service where you can chat with someone one on one about your situation and feelings.
TrevorSpace - www.trevorspace.org - is an online social network and a safe place for young adults 13-24 in very similar circumstances as you to network and talk.
Trevor Lifeline - 866-4-U-TREVOR – If you prefer to talk to someone live, you can call the lifeline and talk to someone about your feelings. Its available 24 hours 7 days a week.
I applaud you for asking for help dealing with your feelings. You are taking the right steps to improve some of the things that are problems for you in your life. We are always here at The Trevor Project if you need to talk.
Sincerely,
The Trevor Project
