KATHY GRIFFIN AND LEVI STRAUSS & CO. TO BE HONORED DURING TREVOR LIVE AT THE HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM
Dec. 5, 2010 Event for The Trevor Project to Feature “D-List” Comedy, Music and More

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CALIF., (Nov. 9, 2010) – On Sunday, December 5, 2010, Hollywood’s most talented and irreverent stars will gather at the Hollywood Palladium to celebrate “Trevor LIVE”, the annual show benefitting The Trevor Project. This year’s Trevor Life Award honoree is Kathy Griffin, and Trevor Hope Award honoree is Levi Strauss & Co., while celebrated director, producer and choreographer Adam Shankman and six-time Emmy Award®-winning writer Bruce Vilanch team up respectively as Special Guest Producing Director and Special Guest Script Writer for Trevor LIVE.

Every year The Trevor Project, the leading crisis intervention and suicide prevention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth, brings together top talent to celebrate and honor leaders and role models for LGBTQ young people. This high-profile event has honored actors and comedians including Neil Patrick Harris and Ellen DeGeneres and corporate trailblazers such as Wells-Fargo and Clear Channel Communications for their support of LGBTQ youth.

“Trevor LIVE closes an historic year for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning community, as the tragic losses of young people have caused a resounding national outcry calling for an end to the bullying aimed at LGBTQ young people,” said Charles Robbins, Executive Director of The Trevor Project. “This event honors vanguards Kathy Griffin and Levi Strauss & Co. who are helping to usher in positive cultural change in this country. Their contributions to the LGBTQ community have always been significant, but especially recently, when young people looking for role models needed them, Kathy Griffin and Levi Strauss & Co. made their voices heard.”

Known recently for her very serious remarks calling for an end to anti-gay bullying on Larry King Live, Trevor Life Award honoree Kathy Griffin is a two-time Emmy® winning-actor, best-selling author, and Grammy®-nominated comedic performer. She has been an outspoken advocate for equality, and although she claims a “Life on the ‘D-List’”, Griffin has an A-List reputation among the LGBTQ community. The Trevor Life Award recognizes an individual who serves as an inspiration to sexual minority youth and increases visibility and understanding of the LGBTQ community.

“This past year, we heard about a number of tragic suicides and whether we were part of the community or not, many of us wondered how we could help. I’ve been fortunate to have had the platform and recognition to beat the drum for change and not get kicked out of the band,” said Griffin. “Ultimately, my goal is to help raise awareness about what everyone can do to save lives, and I’m honored that The Trevor Project has selected me to receive the Trevor Life Award.”

Trevor Hope Award honoree Levi Strauss & Co., one of the world’s largest branded apparel companies and the global leader in jeanswear, has been a leader in the fight for equality for more than two decades. The Trevor Hope Award recognizes a corporation that has supported the LGBTQ community and has increased the visibility and understanding of LGBT issues.

"Like everyone, we have been touched by the tragic headlines that marked this year and are proud to join The Trevor Project in the fight against the vicious cycle of bullying and its devastating results," said Robert Hanson, president, global Levi's® brand. "The Levi’s® brand has long been on the forefront of the important issues of our time, and it’s an honor to be selected to receive the Trevor Hope Award.”

Trevor LIVE at the Hollywood Palladium is the signature annual event of The Trevor Project and this year has both a new name and a new location. As always, this December event brings together top entertainers and corporate leaders to support the organization’s lifesaving initiatives, including its free and confidential lifeline, suicide prevention workshops, community outreach, advocacy efforts and educational resources.
