The Trevor Project is looking to hire a full-time Foundation and Corporate Relations Manager into our Manhattan, NYC office.
Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award® - winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13 - 24.
The Foundation and Corporate Relations Manager is responsible for raising funds from foundations and corporations through grants, gifts and sponsorships. This individual will be charged with building the overall fundraising capacity to benefit our three main programs, The Trevor Project’s Lifeline, Chat and Text along with our educational and advocacy initiatives.
The Foundation and Corporate Relations Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of foundation and corporate partners with the capacity to make significant gifts for our programs and sponsorships of events.
The Foundation and Corporate Relations Manager will need to exhibit a deep understanding of how our partners wish to engage with programs of the Trevor Project, how to develop and package attractive cases for support and related benefits, how to communicate those opportunities most effectively and how to manage fulfillment of any promised benefits.
The Trevor Project seeks a seasoned professional with a solid understanding of the fundraising lands cape as it pertains to crisis intervention and suicide prevention for LGBTQ youth throughout the country. This person will report to the Associate Director of Development.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and submit foundation and corporate grants.
Research the identification of grantors, corporate foundations and government funders in increasing and sustaining grants for operating needs, programs and project support and event sponsorships.
In consultation with key staff, board members, and v olunteers write informed and effective proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, acknowledgements, briefing materials and stewardship reports.
Creatively collaborate with program staff to capitalize on grants, sponsorship and cultivation opportunities.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree preferred or at least 3 - 5 years of work experience in a not-for profit or fundraising environment with a proposal writing focus.
Knowledge and understanding of issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth.
Familiarity with The Trevor Project’s programming and mission
Excellent writing skills
Excellent research skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Razors Edge and Outlook.
Compensation: $50k - $60k. Salary commensurate with experience including full benefits – health, dental, and vision insurance; annual leave, and 403(b) plan.
