Volunteer Opportunities

The Trevor Project could not survive without the efforts and talents of its many dedicated volunteers. Over 500 volunteers contribute their time and energy to the organization annually.

The following are some of the opportunities available to volunteers interested in assisting us in our mission to "promote acceptance for gay and questioning teenagers, and to aid in suicide prevention among that group."

HELPLINE COUNSELORS
If you are interested in becoming a counselor on The Trevor Helpline, 866.4.U.TREVOR (866.488.7386), the only nationwide, around-the-clock suicide prevention helpline for LGBT and questioning youth, please fill out the online application. A Trevor Project Representative will review the application and get in touch with you regarding an interview.

Before beginning the interview process, we request that interested parties check to see that they are available on all of the dates of training as attendance to every session is required. If you are not available in these dates and would still like to be a counselor, we will be holding a Fall Helpline Counselor Training, please check back for dates.

We currently only operate call centers in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

BOARD COMMITTEES
Board Committees consist of members of the Board of Directors, as well as dedicated individuals with an expertise in their field and a commitment to helping make a difference in the lives of young people. The committees include Marketing, Public Relations, Development, Finance, Programs, Strategic Partners, Technology and Volunteer. Board Committees meet and work throughout the year toward achieving their goals for the organization. Please send an email to: Volunteer@TheTrevorProject.org if you are interested in volunteering.

EVENT VOLUNTEERS
Event Volunteers assist The Trevor Project at various events throughout the year. Currently, The Trevor Project's key fundraising events are held in Los Angeles and New York. As we gear up for these events, there are many areas to which one can contribute. In addition, there are numerous opportunities for raising awareness and assisting in our fundraising efforts. Please direct all event volunteer emails to: Volunteer@TheTrevorProject.org. Please provide your contact information as well as the event at which you are able to help.

PROJECT VOLUNTEERS
Project Volunteers help in various ways. This might include assisting at The Trevor Project offices (located in Los Angeles, California) with administrative help. It might also include specific skills or expertise valuable at given times throughout the year.
