The disproportionate granting of freedoms, rights, benefits, advantages, and opportunities to some people over others, which is commonly rooted in that person’s identity to one or more groups. Typically the dominant group has greater access to these resources. Examples of patterns of privilege include white privilege, male privilege, socioeconomic privilege, and able-bodied privilege.
