The season wouldn’t be complete without thanking our incredible volunteers for their hard work and dedication to saving young lives. That’s why our community engagement team and a wealth of additional Trevor staff members came together this December to plan two outstanding parties to celebrate the holidays.
On a drizzly Los Angeles evening, over 50 guests attended Trevor’s winter wonderland volunteer party, complete with a hot chocolate bar, cookie decorating, Italian buffet, DJ, and graham cracker gingerbread house making. Prizes were handed out for the best “ugly” sweater, and every volunteer received a gift card.
New York welcomed more than 80 attendees to their seasonal celebration, where guests took photos in a “DIY” photo booth decorated with wrapping paper and danced along with the DJ. Volunteers were also given gift cards, and held their own “ugly” sweater contest.
Allyee Whaley, a Crisis Services Coordinator at Trevor, served as New York’s photographer. “It was an awesome opportunity to interact with nearly everyone at the party and in the most fun way,” she said. “One of the volunteers told me that he and his boyfriend ordered 100 copies of their photo for their Christmas cards this year. It was an absolute blast!”
Thank you to all of the staff and vendors who made these two evenings possible. We love giving our volunteers a chance to have fun, and spend time together. Thanks to them, we’re able to be there for LGBTQ youth in crisis 24/7. If you or someone you know is ever interested in volunteering at The Trevor Project, visit Trvr.org/Volunteer to get started!
