Lincoln Becomes First City in NE to Protect LGBTQ Youth from Conversion Therapy

Today,  the City Council of Lincoln, Nebraska passed an ordinance that prohibits licensed mental health professionals from subjecting LGBTQ youth to the dangerous and discredited practice of conversion therapy. FCC Unanimously Approves 2-Year Phase-In of 988

The Trevor Project applauds the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)’s unanimous decision today to designate 988 as the new three-digit dialing code for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. This FCC order requires that, within two years, all phone service providers will route 988 calls to the Lifeline, an important step to increasing accessibility for suicide prevention and crisis intervention services and addressing the disproportionate impact of suicide on LGBTQ youth and other at-risk groups. South Dakota Lawmakers Propose Medical Care Ban Harmful to Transgender Youth

South Dakota legislators recently proposed HB 1057, a bill that would criminalize medical care for any transgender patient under the age of 18, even when such care is deemed medically necessary and has the consent of the patient’s parents. The proposed legislation goes against medical care best practices for transgender youth, which are backed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and other leading medical authorities.
