The Trevor Project Honored as a 2021 Classy Award Winner

BY: Kinzi Sparks

We are thrilled that The Trevor Project has been honored as a 2021 Classy Award Winner in the Social Innovation category!

Hosted by Classy, a giving experience platform that enables nonprofits to connect supporters with the causes they care about, the Classy Awards honor today’s most innovative nonprofit organizations and social enterprises. Now in its 8th year, the Classy Awards is one of the largest social impact awards in the country, celebrating the world-changing work of the social sector.

Of the 1,400 organizations that participated this year, we’re proud to share that The Trevor Project has been recognized for our commitment to serving LGBTQ young people. We work to save young LGBTQ lives through five key program areas: crisis services, peer support, research, education and public awareness, and advocacy. Combined with our technological innovations, scalable counselor training program, and our expanded operations, we’re growing our impact to support positive mental health outcomes for LGBTQ young people nationwide.

“Thank you to the Classy Awards for this incredible honor and for recognizing our organization’s life-saving work,” said Kevin Wong, Vice President of Communications at The Trevor Project. “Our key programs enable us to continue serving the more than 1.8 million LGBTQ young people who seriously consider suicide each year in the U.S. We’re grateful to be honored alongside best-in-class organizations that drive positive, impactful change in their industries and beyond.”

Winners were determined by the Leadership Council, a prestigious group of social sector leaders with representatives from organizations such as Feeding America, Jane Goodall Institute USA, Microsoft, Salesforce.org, City of Hope, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and others.

“The Classy Awards began in 2009 to shine a spotlight on outstanding programs run by social impact organizations around the world,” said Pat Walsh, Classy co-founder. “Each and every day we are humbled by the hard work and tenacity of our nonprofit customers, and the Classy Awards serve as our way to honor the sector we serve. Congratulations to The Trevor Project who joins a prestigious group of 2021 Classy Award Winners who are embracing new ideas and solving today’s toughest challenges.”
