A Year of Achievement

August 28, 2013

One fiscal year has ended and a new cycle of innovation, creativity and progress has begun. I am so proud of what our team accomplished, and could not be more excited to achieve the goals we have planned for the next year!

To continue meeting the needs of all LGBTQ youth in fiscal year 2013, we increased the size of our staff by 33%, welcoming an array of incredibly gifted new staff members including our Program Director, David Bond, LCSW, BCETS, and two additional staff clinicians, Ashby Dodge, LMSW, Sr. Crisis Services Manager, and Athena Brewer, LMFT, Sr. Digital Programs Manager. Trevor’s Board of Directors also experienced change. While we thanked outgoing members, Jason Oclaray and Trevor co-founder James Lecesne, we were pleased to welcome Phil Armstrong of Goldman Sachs and clinical psychologist, Lara Embry, PhD.

A completely new version of our social network, TrevorSpace was constructed to make building connections between LGBTQ youth easier, more dynamic and safer. TrevorChat expanded to a full 7 days, resulting in a nearly 500% growth in demand for the service. Thanks to the support of our donors, Trevor also began testing the nation’s first crisis text messaging service specifically for LGBTQ youth, TrevorText.

To give young people and educators the tools they need to prevent suicide and help save lives, we re-vamped the Trevor Resource Kit and re-imagined our best-practice suicide prevention training for youth, making this September the first time our Trevor Lifeguard Workshop will be available online and on DVD.

There are many more instrumental goals Trevor reached this year, because of you. On behalf of the youth we serve, thank you so much for helping us prevent suicide through your invaluable support.
