The Supreme Court declined to hear Grimm v. Gloucester County School Board, allowing Grimm’s victory in lower courts to stand.
WASHINGTON, DC — The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people, celebrated The Supreme Court’s decision today to not hear the case of Grimm v. Gloucester County School Board, upholding the Fourth Circuit’s decision in support of transgender and nonbinary students’ rights to use bathrooms that are aligned with their gender identity.

“Our research has found that transgender and nonbinary youth who experienced bathroom discrimination had more than 1.5 times the odds of reporting a suicide attempt in the past year. We are excited to see this case come to a close and remain committed to protecting trans youth from all forms of discrimination that persist in society, including the record number of state legislative attacks on trans youth over the past year.”
