Styles of Pride

BY: Trevor News

Let’s be honest. It’s not always easy to be LGBTQ, but there is something incredibly valuable about the journey of introspection it makes us go on. We’ve had to ask ourselves the tough questions: Who are we? How do we want the world to see us? How do we do things differently? These questions are foundational to our LGBTQ identities — they’ve made us constantly consider how we present ourselves to the world. And one of the best ways to express ourselves is with our style.

But finding your style means overcoming doubts. Does this outfit make me stand out too much?  Does being a dancer go against what masculinity dictates? Styles of Pride explores the joy that comes from not conforming to the norm but finding the styles that make us feel most like who we are.

This Pride we know not everyone has a space to express themselves freely — that’s why we’ve partnered with Macy’s to highlight inspiring young people who are embracing their style. Shopping in the women’s section. Wearing makeup. Getting on a motorcycle. Life is too short not to live it with joy. And this year, we’ve found inspiration in these trailblazers who have found theirs and are setting trends. Because every day is a journey towards discovering your unique style.

Let those colors shine. Be confident. Be bold. And be proud.
