I know many young people may be questioning what this election means for their futures, wondering if the outcome changes their ability to live openly, to live authentically, to live fully. In moments like these, I want every LGBTQ+ young person—and every person who cares about them—to know one thing: The Trevor Project is here for you, no matter the outcome of any election.

As the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people, our mission remains clear: to end suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning young people. We will continue to ensure that every LGBTQ+ young person has access to safe, affirming spaces, especially during challenging times.

I want to say with all my heart: Your life matters, and you were born to live it. Trevor will always be here to support you, to listen, and to offer you the care you deserve.

Our commitment to LGBTQ+ youth has always been about people, not politics. That will never change. We’ll continue to work with leaders from all political backgrounds who share our mission of ending LGBTQ+ youth suicide, and I am heartened that our work consistently receives strong bipartisan support. We believe that creating safe, affirming environments for LGBTQ+ young people is above politics—it’s about ensuring every young person feels valued, respected, and seen.

Our work together is more important than ever. Thank you for being here with us and with LGBTQ+ young people across the country at this moment. We are united in our mission, and with your support, we’ll keep moving forward, creating a future where every young person can live authentically.

In unity and support,

From creating merch with proceeds benefiting our work, to being the very first celebrity signature on our Open Letter to LGBTQ+ Youth, her advocacy runs deep. She uses her massive platform to amplify messages of hope to her young LGBTQ+ fans – and we’re so grateful to call her a friend. We caught up with the “Busy Girl” herself to talk about the release of the limited-edition HEAT vinyl EP –…

How You Can Be The One

Here at Trevor, we’ve been talking a lot about what it means to be the one for LGBTQ young people, especially as the year wraps up and we look to the (potentially tough) holiday season. You may have heard this before, but it bears repeating: for an LGBTQ young person, having at least one accepting adult in their life can lower odds of suicide risk by 40%.  This is more than just a statistic for us — it’s a reality we’ve seen in the individual lives of the LGBTQ young people we serve time and time again for 25 years. And…
