Annual Report FY2013

Our partners help make Trevor’s dreams and goals a reality by building connections between diverse organizations, while helping to spread the word about suicide prevention and LGBTQ youth. The Trevor Project thanks all of our partners who helped make fiscal year 2013 an accomplished season.

In FY13 two of these stand-out partners, Teach for America and Kimpton Hotels, allowed us to reach more at-risk youth and grow strong support for our mission.

Spreading Trevor’s Message in Schools

The Trevor Project was proud to announce a new partnership with Teach for America and GLSEN to create safer classrooms for LGBTQ youth, in October 2012. Educators nationwide signed the S.A.F.E. Classrooms pledge to create classrooms that are Safe and Affirming For Everyone (S.A.F.E.). As part of their participation, teachers also received updates from Trevor about workshops in their area and gained access to valuable resources to help create S.A.F.E. learning environments.

Trevor’s partnership with Teach for America, a branch of AmeriCorps that works in low-income urban and rural public schools, also included providing the Trevor Resource Kit to Corps members nationwide and offering Trevor CARE and Trevor Ally education programs through in-person and webinar trainings. Trevor Lifeguard Workshop for youth and young adults was also offered to Teach for America’s members in select locations.

We were thrilled to collaborate with Teach for America and GLSEN to build a society that values and protects all young people, regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity. As the years continue, we look forward to sharing these resources with more educators and youth-serving adults. Together, we can make a difference.

Kimpton Welcomes The Trevor Project

In their first year of partnering with The Trevor Project, Kimpton Hotels has made a great impact. As a premiere hotel partner for the LGBTQ community, Kimpton prides itself on being in-tune with their guests, making sure they feel like they’ve never left home. From providing complimentary rooms for Trevor’s staff, honorees, and guests during TrevorLIVE events, to helping the organization produce first-class events, Kimpton is an invaluable partner.

“All of Kimpton’s affiliations are employee driven. The Trevor/Kimpton partnership reflects a shared ideal of caring and compassion for the LGBTQ youth community. These ideals are a part of our culture and Kimpton is committed to working side by side with Trevor until we live in a world where such resources are no longer necessary,” said Maggie Lang, Senior Director of Relationship Marketing at Kimpton Hotels.

In April 2013, Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants sponsored a special thank you event for Friends of Trevor members in the NYC area at Kimpton’s Eventi Hotel. Nearly 150 guests listened to Trevor CEO Abbe Land deliver an update on programs and enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres provided by Kimpton and its InTouch program. We are proud to partner with such an outstanding corporation and are thankful for their support. We look forward to seeing where the coming years take us.
