Black@Trevor Spotlight: Jonathan Quant

At The Trevor Project, we create intentional spaces, called Affinity Groups, that allow members of Team Trevor to connect with each other around their different intersectional identities. Over the next few months, we’ll feature member spotlights from across Trevor’s Affinity Groups. This month, we’re proud to spotlight Training Coordinator and Black@Trevor member Jonathan Quant (he/him). Celebrating Lesbian Visibility Day With Trevor Project Staff Member Gray Muranaga

Lesbian Visibility Day, celebrated annually on April 26 since its inception in 2008, is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the incredible contributions and vibrancy of the lesbian community within the larger LGBTQ community. At The Trevor Project, we love our lesbian community, and want every young lesbian individual to know that this is a safe place for them. This year, The Trevor Project is amplifying the work of Gray Muranaga (they/them), Training Coordinator at The Trevor Project and visual artist. As I watched their conversation, reflecting upon on the day’s celebrations of trans and non-binary individuals, and the recent passing of trans community members in my home city of Chicago, I found myself feeling bittersweet, mixed emotions. Though mainstream conversation around Trans Day of Visibility has centered…

Liz Dyer Wants Every LGBTQ Person To Have A Mama Bear

Having just one person in your life who loves you for who you are and affirms your identity can be life-changing. The Trevor Project research found that, for LGBTQ youth in the last year, having at least one accepting adult in their life reduced their risk of suicide by 40%. Mama Bears is working to connect all LGBTQ young people to those supporting adults who are willing and able to be there for them and celebrate them. Mama Bears step in and celebrate LGBTQ youth and individuals who may not have support in their lives and families through care packages,…
